Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was conceived in Miami, Florida on November 30, 1977. American electro house music producer, D.J., and record producer Steve Aoki is his moniker. and music executive. He is the third of Chizuru and Rocky Aoki's children. His father was a former wrestler, who also helped develop the chain of restaurants Benihana. There are two siblings and a sister Kana who is commonly known as Grace because of her middle name Grace, as well as brother Kevin (owner of Doraku Sushi). His half-sister is Devon Aoki, a model and actress. He was born in Newport Beach and graduated from Newport Harbor High School with a 1995 B.A. in badminton. He later attended UC Santa Barbara, graduating with two B.A. He was awarded two bachelor's degrees, one in feminist Studies and the one in Sociology. In his college days, he recorded DIY records and ran underground music events out of his Biko room at the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. It was a concert venue and the Biko room was dubbed The Pickle Patch. He was also active in student activism at UCSB. He was the founder of a Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League Chapter on campus. In his 20s, Dim Mak was establishing his own record label, that he named Dim Mak in honor of his idol from childhood Bruce Lee. He released I'm In the House in March 2010 in collaboration with Zuper Blahq The alter-ego of will.i.am from The Black Eyed Peas. The track made it to the top spot at No. 29 in the U.K. singles chart in its initial week. The song later made it onto the U.K. Dance Chart & the U.K. Indie Chart, peaking within the top 5 in both charts. The song was featured on the MTV show Jersey Shore as well as in the feature film Piranha & the trailer for Think Like A Man. In a May interview with HitQuarters, Lucas Secon, the producer-songwriter was able to confirm that he and Rivers Cuomo had just worked on an album. In 2012, Pollstar designated him as the top dance artist in terms of revenue in North America from tours. He has collaborated with artists like Iggy Azalea, Afrojack, LMFAO, Linkin Park, Will.i.am, Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke, BTS, Louis Tomlinson, Rise Against, Vini Vici & Fall Out Boy. He is well-known for his remixes of artists such as Kid Cudi.
