in Irvine, California. The youngest son of Righteous Brothers keyboardist Lee
Ferrell and teacher Kay Ferrell, Will was--by his own admission, not the class
clown as when he was a student at University High School. Ferrell who was calm
and quiet was adamant about making his mark on football and set a school-record
for most field goals made. Ferrell was more of a relaxed person at home in the
suburbs and didn't show the same kind of outrageous or humorous outbursts later
to define his career. His mother who was interviewed by Esquire, said that her
son was very pleasant and kind. "You have seen those cute Matchbox cars?
Will would be completely happy to line up all of his Matchbox cars himself.
You'd ask, 'Do you want to visit Disneyland today or set up your cars?' It's a
hard conversation for him to contemplate. Ferrell wasn't exactly a
straight-laced man. When he would make his daily announcements via the PA
system, a glimpse into his comical skills was revealed each day in high-school.
Ferrell graduated from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles in
1986. He joined Delta Tau fraternity, and pursued a degree for sports
journalism.
