Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams is the daughter of
Sandra Kay (Gale), an Ontario nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams a truck driver
as well as furniture moving. Her birthplace was in London, Ontario on November
17th 1977. Rachel is of English, Welsh, Irish, and Scottish descent. Rachel
began acting at thirteen. She was already acting in Shakespearean plays in
summer theater camps. Rachel graduated with honors from York University with a
BFA in Theater. After appearing in the Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson episode
(1998) in which she was a lead in Slings and Arrows, a Canadian comedy-drama
that chronicles the struggles and triumphs of an Shakespearean theater group.
In 2003, she was awarded an award called a Gemini award. Her role as Regina
George, in Mean Girls (2004), instantly was a hit on Hollywood's most
sought-after young actresses. In the following film, she was cast opposite Ryan
Gosling in The Notebook (2004). The Notebook was a big hit at the box office
and quickly became the leading romantic drama for a new generation of movie
lovers. McAdams and Gosling were in love during filming and continued dating
throughout 2007's middle. McAdams and Gosling soon were in a relationship and
started to date. Following her roles in The Lucky Ones, a military drama State
of Play, and The Time Traveler's Wife (2009), McAdams appeared opposite Jude
Law and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's international blockbuster Sherlock
Holmes. McAdams portrayed the plucky producer in Morning Glory (2010). McAdams
also played Owen Wilson's romantic fiancee in Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams
then returned to romantic drama with The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum.
McAdams also appears alongside Ben Affleck in Terrence Malick's To the Wonder
(2012) and alongside Noomi Rapace in Brian De Palma's thriller Passion
(2012).In 2005, McAdams received ShoWest's "Supporting Actress of the
Year" Award, as well as the "Breakthrough Actress of the Year"
at the Hollywood Film Awards
